High Pressure Diamond Optics, Inc. manufactures hand assembled scientific instruments called Diamond Anvil Cells (DAC). Geochemists and Geophysicists use these experimental devices to simulate deep Earth conditions in a laboratory setting. X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy are important techniques employed in high pressure experiments.
 

Diamond Anvil Cells are also used in IR spectroscopy without the use of high pressure. These microsampling accessories are for analytical studies of materials with infrared instrumentation including FTIR and IR microscopes. Analytical chemists (Spectroscopists) use these labor saving DAC’s to flatten interest materials. The diamonds act as anvils to thin fibers, paint chips, pharmaceuticals, etc. while allowing maximum transmission of infrared radiation through the sample. Many research labs and forensic labs use this IR accessory cell on a routine basis. With care and consideration, these DAC’s can last a long time. Repair and refurbishing may be necessary at some point. Prompt service is provided and loaner instruments (during the repair of your cell) are available.
